Hyatt Regency New Orleans Family Fun Package
#SummerFamilyFun
New Orleans can be a safe fun family summer travel destination! When most people hear New Orleans the two most common things that may pop in your mind are Hurricane Katrina and Party City. Right? Well, that is NOT all there is to New Orleans.
New Orleans has cultural and educational exhibits that can provide you and your family a wonderful safe vacation. I am going to be updating this post with links to the reviews of the different places we visited as a family while in New Orleans but, first I want to tell you where we stayed.
The Hyatt Regency in New Orleans is a great family friendly hotel with a safe location! We stayed in a Regency Club Queen Room. It was a super nice room with two queen beds, a living space, and all the amenities you could need. Regency Club guests enjoy access to the Regency Club Lounge, offering daily meal services, complimentary Wi-Fi, and views of the city from the hotel’s top floor. Keep reading and I will tell you more about the Regency Club Lounge…..wonderful!
Plus, did I mention the wonderful view of the Super Dome! At night it was so beautiful! The Superdome is behind the Hyatt Regency so I asked if there was direct access where you could walk outside the back of the hotel to the dome. For safety reasons you can not walk directly from the hotel to the Superdome but, is it just around the corner. It actually made me feel safer knowing there is not direct access.
The Hyatt Regency offers a wonderful Family Fun Package to help make you vacation a little more enjoyable.
Family Fun Package Included:
- Four (4) full day streetcar passes. These are great because there is a street car stop right outside the Hyatt Regency. You can find all the stops and information on the RTA website. The drivers are friendly, just let them know where you are going and they are happy to make sure you are on the correct streetcar. These are full day passes so you can ride around to everywhere you want to go and get back without having to pay for parking.
- Kids eat free at 8 Block Kitchen & Bar with a paying adult. I will let you know more about the 8 Block Kitchen & Bar! Keep reading. 🙂
- (2) Complimentary frozen beverages or snowballs at Bywater Pool & Bar
- Complimentary Incentives Booklet with a value of over $100 in savings. Full of great coupons to use in the hotel. We tried to use as many as we could while we were there.
The whole family really enjoyed the room! It was warm and cozy in all the right ways. The kids could be chilling out in one of the beds while we relaxed on the couch. And they did, after we wore them out all day visiting different areas they were happy to relax in front of their own TV for some down time.
We still had room to relax ourselves!
I also wanted to tell all of you about their advanced elevator technology. You hold your room key beneath the dial pad and the screen will then show you which elevator to take. You can also manually touch the screen if you wish.
While we did visit many other places in New Orleans the Hyatt Regency offers so much entertainment and places to enjoy your stay it was hard to leave during the day. Really, you could enjoy your stay and never leave the hotel!
Regency Club Lounge
When you book a Regency Club Room you gain access to the Regency Club Lounge. I honestly do not think I will ever stay at another Hyatt Regency without booking this type of room! The Regency Club Lounge offers daily breakfast and appetizer dinner along with snacks during the day. If you wanted a soda, juice, or water at any time you can just get it out of the lounge. This is all included in your room cost. Mr H loved to go up during lunch hours to get a cookie.
The view is absolutely gorgeous! A wonderful place to just sit and relax day or night. The lounge also has a full selection of beer, wine and top shelf liquor. Those are not included in the price but on an honor system. You just need to tell them what you had so they can add it to your bill.
Vitascope Hall
Vitascope Hall is a sophisticated modern bar/restaurant. The seating, besides the awesome food, is on feature making this place very unique. They do offer regular seating and bar seats but also nook seating on couches. Each area has a 42 inch TV! Great place to enjoy great food, drinks, friends, and a game!
My husband and myself went down for dinner one night. The food was great and my husband ordered a Pecan Beer, which we were told was just for their bar and brewed seasonally. He really enjoyed the flavor.
8 Block Kitchen & Bar
The 8 Block Kitchen & Bar was the first area we checked out because it was so late the first night we arrived to the hotel. After getting the kids settled {of course we had our babysitter with us} we ventured out to explore. If you do not have a sitter with you the hotel offers a baby-sitting arranged through concierge. We found the 8 Block Kitchen & Bar open with live jazz music. It was a very relaxing place to sit and have a drink while enjoying the New Orleans sounds.
During the day breakfast and lunch is served in the restaurant area featuring locally grown foods only! The restaurant area seats 360 guests and features a delicious fusion of farm-to-table and traditional New Orleans cuisine. Each dish is seasonally inspired by the local fresh foods. If you are not real hungry you can order only the Light Fare or to enjoy the full services with a large appetite order the Complete Meal.
Starbucks
YES! While there is a coffee maker in the room it was so nice to take a short elevator ride to grab a wonderful cup of Starbucks coffee! It is a full Starbucks offering lattes, Frappuccinos, teas, and quick bites.
Lagniappe Exchange
Looking for a quick bite, beverages, souvenirs, or something you may have forgotten. Lagniappe is open 24 hours for your convenience.
Pizza Consegna and Room Service
In the coupon book from the Family Fun Package was a coupon for buy one get one free pizza from Pizza Consegna. We did order one for the boys one night in the room. They loved them and honestly one would have been enough to feed us all! When they say large they mean it! 🙂 Many of you know Mr Z has food allergies so we ordered him chicken fingers from room service. As my husband said, “Those are the best chicken fingers he has ever tasted!” Mr Z enjoyed them.
Bywater Pool Deck & Bar
The Bywater Pool Deck & Bar offers a saltwater pool to relax during your stay. With plenty of room to sit and enjoy the warm weather of New Orleans. We used our free frozen drink coupons in our Family Fun Package sitting by the pool after a long day of site seeing. It was a fun treat for all of us!
During the week the cabanas are open to first come first serve but, on the weekend you can call the concierge to reserve yours. However, there is plenty of other seating.
Q Smokery & Cafe
We did not get to check out Q Smokery & Cafe as they are closed on the weekends but, I would have loved to have tried their BBQ!
Fitness Center
They Hyatt Regency offers a 24 hour, state –of- the- art Fitness Center. Equipped with spin, free weight, elliptical, and cardio equipment. The concierge is available to set up personalized classes with your favorite yoga and martial arts facilities also. The view from the Fitness Center is absolutely breathtaking. Each machine is facing the view so you are sure to start your day in a wonderful mood!
Le Jardin Spa
Enjoy luxurious massage, manicure and pedicure treatments in the comfort of your hotel room or in one of the deluxe chair massages in varying locations throughout the hotel provided by Le Jardin Spa.
If you are looking for a beautiful place to have a wedding or event the Hyatt Regency has plenty of room! There was a wedding planned for the weekend we were there and I was allowed a peak into their reception room. ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL!
Our stay was nice, comfortable, and relaxing. Anyone traveling with kids to New Orleans should look into the Hyatt Regency and their Family Fun Package to help your stay a little more fun! We had a wonderful time and hope to go back soon!
