ALS Ice Bucket Challenge Gone Wrong #Love>Hate Fundraiser
It still amazes me in today’s world when we hear of just horrible acts of meanness some people make against others. We have seen this article about an ALS Ice Bucket Challenge prank being played on a 14 year old autistic boy in Bay Village circulating news media and websites. I was heartbroken and outraged! Just how awful!
GiveForward is the world’s #1 fundraising site for helping people in need and has decided to take action against this horrible act. They have started a fundraiser for this boy to show him love, rather than hate, and to teach him that he is a hero for knowing that was wrong and being able to come out and talk about what happened.
So many times in life people say “what a shame” and then flip the channel and proceed to do NOTHING about it, as we expect someone else will step up and help.
GiveForward wants to change that. They want people to know there is an outlet.
That’s why they are turning to you all and asking for your help in spreading the word. To help please see HERE.

This is so terribly sad. It’s so disappointing when someone has to ruin such a nice idea. It saddens me for this child and his family.

i was pretty iffy about the als challenge to begin with, when my daughters 14 year old friend explained “there’s this diseasem called, like, ASL or somertehing and we’re like, raising awareness…”, then this story just broke my heart. i know its not about the challenge, and all about the hearts of those kids, but sitll… so sad.

It is sad that a 14 year old was going to do the challenge and then it went wrong. The ice bucket challenge is cool, but people always forgot that it is about ALS and the charity, now about being proud of themselves for dumping a bucket of ice on their head and then challenging people. I was not challenged to the ice bucket challenge, but if I was I would of donated instead of taking the bucket of ice. I know people would of said that I was a wimp, but I would rather be known as a wimp and tell them about why the challenge got started in the first place, rather than dump a bucket of ice on my head.

Well when you look up the history of the ALS bucket challenge, it was pretty much waterboarding torture done to africans back in the day. So i dont support it at all but what happened to that poor autistic boy is cruel.

You are so right. It’s not enough to just sit by and say you are outraged or feel sorry for this boy. DO SOMETHING – anything. Even if it’s not directly to/for him. Pay it forward and spread the love! Thanks so much for this post!!

that is so sad how people take something good and make it bad

I love that GiveForward is making an effort and acting out against what those bullies did. I still can’t believe any one would think that was funny. I’m sure those bullies will remember the cruelty they showed that poor boy and they will realize in time just how terrible they acted. In the meantime though, I’m glad that movements like GiveForward are spreading love and acceptance instead of hate.

It is ashamed how people can act this way. People were doing the challenge and not donating any money to this great cause. SMH

I shared on my FB page and I’m glad GiveForward is standing with and for this boy! We all should show our love and support for him! There is far too much hate in this world!

I don’t think I would want to do this, I think if others want to raise money I can think of other ways of doing so that having a bucket of ice water thrown on ya.. I personally wouldn’t do it.. but thats just me

This is a terrible act. I feel that the reason for this challenge sometimes gets lost in the ones creating it. I don’t like this challenge for that fact that there are other ways to raise money. 🙂
