I think I am on cloud nine!!! I just used this new app, Doctor On Demand, for my son to see a pediatrician without even having to leave my living room!!! Mr Z, who is four now, woke up this morning with green gunk in his eye. Yep! Every one of you just cringed because oh no…..the dreaded pink eye!!
Mr Z is not a doctor type of kid. He hates going to the doctor and has never welcomed a doctor to take a look at him! He is the one you have to hold down for the doctor to examine him. No fun at all!!
Well, put this kid on the phone and he is all, let me show you this, and look here this is where it hurts.. I have never see him so happy to see a doctor. Not only was the doctor great with talking to him, she was great at explaining everything to me.
I did not have to call to make an appointment at his regular doctor’s office, drive there, wait 30 minutes just to get back in a room, then wait another 15 minutes for the doctor to come in the room, then finally check out! It only took me about four minutes to download the app, put in our information, then place a call! The doctor was very professional gathering all the background information she need about Mr Z. She spoke to him using the video chat on my phone as we put the phone up real close so she could get a good look.
The call lasted about 20 minutes and at the end she had explained everything to me. Even called in a prescription to my pharmacy!!
You do not have to use the app, you can place your call using a computer as long as you have a camera and microphone.

What an amazing idea! When hubby had the flu, we could have used this (he ended up pulling a stomach musle and then tearing it!).
This is an awesome idea. You can see a doctor without leaving your house. It’s great for people with kids especially ones like yours who don’t like the doctor. This will be a lot quicker and easier than making an appointment and going to the doctors like you said.

I saw a segment about this on Dr. Phil, it sounds like a really useful app. I’d much rather talk to a doctor than send an email or post a message in a forum.
IF I ever get an iPad or a smart phone, etc., I will definitely download this app!! I am disabled & count on my husband for a lot – with this I can do more on my own & I have contacted them a lot with my health issues!! A lot of times, going into their offices can be a waste of time & money!!
I could have used this when my son was young. I always hated taking him to the doctor–just getting a sick child ready to go out, especially in winter, can be an ordeal. Thank you for sharing!

What a neat idea. With all the new illness popping up you really just hate taking your children to the doctor office for minor things and this would work out so wonderful. You don’t have to worry about catching something else at the doctor’s office.
