My House was Stuck by the Halloween Phantom
What do you do to get everyone in the Halloween spirit? Do you decorate your house? Watch scary movies? Eat LOTs of candy?
You can Boooo someone’s house! To “Boooo” someone house you get a small Halloween bucket and fill it with some Halloween candies and treats. Print out the two pages I have below. Then, after the sun had set ring the doorbell of a neighborhood friend leaving the bucket and papers inside!
We were struck the other night and my kids were so excited! It really did make us all feel very special putting us in the Halloween Spirit. Word to the wise though!! Make sure you know the people and know they are comfortable with their doorbell being rung after dark. Funny story ~ The person who Booooed thought it would be fun to Boooo a lot a people. Well, when one of those people looked out to see no-one there and did not notice the bucket of candy….they called the cops! When the cops showed up she was still out with her kids Booooing houses. He asked if she was ringing doorbells and running away. Lucky, all was explained and calmed.
You can print this Halloween Phantom or draw one yourself.
Print the GHOST PHANTOM Poem
Have a safe fun Halloween!!

I love this idea. Very creative and certainly lots of fun. Halloween is one of my very favorite holidays
That ghost is too cute to scare me haha.
This is such a great idea! Love the poem too. I’ll have to try this next year.
Such a fun idea! Why have I never thought of this!
I would have never thought of this! Thanks for the awesome idea!
I think this is a very cute idea…I think I will do this next year for my parent’s neighbors – they are a really friendly younger couple.
Thanks, such a great idea.we are doing it this year.
OMG!! i love this idea, I think yes as long as you know who is doing the booing LOL i say why not, let the houses be BOO ;0
This is such an awesome idea for Halloween. It made me chuckle too, thinking about the fun you could have with this.
I used to love decorating for Halloween when the kids were little, not so much anymore. Everyone is grown up with kids of their own!!
What a cute idea.
we got one of these last year, i wish i had had the money to do it for some kids.
No kids here, so we’re having a quiet night in with the cats and the puppy excited for the weekend ahead 🙂
very cute idea
that’s something new, great idea! 🙂
What a cute idea! Thanks for sharing.
So cute! Very creative and it’s only during Halloween though! Chill!
How cute! I wish we had neighbors like this! My husband and I live in an apartment complex and we don’t even get Trick R Treaters. We decorate our apartment like crazy…I hope one of these years we’ll get some more people who are in the holiday spirit! Thanks for sharing 🙂 Happy Halloween!
What a cute idea! I decorated my house last night, along with my oldest son (he’s 22 and really loves Halloween!) and I got to see my grandchildren dressed up tonight! 🙂
Such a fun and cute idea! Occasions like this brings out everyone’s creativity! 🙂
My nieces would love this idea. I like that the pic of the ghost is used to make sure everyone doesn’t get duplicates buckets of yummies.
It is a great idea but I agree do it before dark or don’t ring the doorbell and wait until the person finds it, maybe?
How cute!
Wow what a great Idea! I love it, unfortunately for us we had no Trick or Treaters due to rain. I mean we need the rain so we where more then happy to have rain. I live in drought suffering California. But I love the idea of the Halloween Phantom, maybe we can do it next year!
That’s a sweet idea!! My kids would have fun booing people!!
It’s different, everyone has a different way to do Trick or treats. We deco the front of the house and pass out candy.
What an awesome idea! This could probably be done with other Holidays too! (weather permiting) or if they have an enclosed foyer like we do there would be no problem! Hope you had a BOOtiful HALLOWEEN!
This sounds like so much fun. Thank you for sharing
They do something like this in my dad’s neighborhood. It’s cute and gets my little brother so excited!!!
I love tis idea. I would much rather be Boooed than have eggs thrown at my house or a bag of burning turd on my doorstep. This is much more fun.
How cute! Such a fun idea, especially for those with little kids! 🙂
I have never seen nor heard of anything like this before. Very cute idea if you can get some neighbors on board and the kids would love it.
What a very creative idea. This will be something we will do next year or just to get a friend to smile.
I love this. Very cute.
I think if you knew your neighbors or neighborhood, it’s a fun idea. I don’t even have a door bell and can tell you I would not appreciate someone banging on my door for that. I do love Halloween though!
That’s a fun way to celebrate Halloween.
If I did this, I’d probably make it a lot scarier but only prey on people I know appreciate that sort of thing. It’d be fun to make up “Visit From a Vampire” or “Zapped by a Zombie” or “Mooned by a Monster” type baskets. LOL
That is super cute. We just stayed in this year and watched old classic horror flicks. That didn’t keep me from buying candly though, we still have a huge shoe box full from all the sales.
That is really cute. I watched movies and played on the computer. No kids at my door because I live out in the country and there are not many houses around. 🙁
This is the most adorable idea ever! I wish I would have seen this before Halloween but there’s always next year!
Very cute idea, I love letting others know you’re thinking of them without them knowing who you are!
this is a fun cute idea but it might freak some people out.or get you in some trouble
Such a fun idea, and the print out is to cute. Would love to do this sometime but here they just do not decorate or trick-or-treat. so said.
Loved the story about the phantom house
I loved these ideas.
This is such an adorable idea!! Halloween and Christmas are two of the few things that make me wish I lived in a real neighborhood with actual neighbors! I wish we had the whole neighborly thing, decorating, trick or treating, etc around. It would make it so much fun! We actually have to drive about 20 minutes to take our kids trick or treating, and farther than that when we go to tour Christmas lights. I do decorate around the inside of our house, for our daughter though, and my favorite part is that I have a little Halloween village. It is just like a little Christmas village, but exactly like it sounds, Halloween themed 🙂 There are cute little characters dressed in costumes sitting on tombstones with their legs dangling over, haunted houses with witches that fly around, all kinds of neat little things.
I have never decorated the house for halloween. When the kids were young, I was busy taking trick or treating. Now they are adults and I just don’t have the energy to go all out with decorations.
We do alot of outside decorating Hay bales, pumpkins ghost in trees
great ideals
Great idea! I like to decorate the outside of the house so that the trick or treaters have something fun to see when they’re going around to houses. I also dress up to answer the door for an extra surprise!
Love that this is teaching kids that giving is fun and that it is great to pay it forward
Cute! I love this.
No kids at home but I still love decorating and baking for when the grandkids are visiting. We also enjoy watching the shows together.
This is a terrific idea, really creative! Thanks for posting!
This kind of reminds me of a May Day basket! I will have to do this for halloween!
This is a very cute idea, we go all out with our decorating for Halloween, it’s a bigger holiday for us than Christmas! I love the story too, that is too funny!
I wish people in my neighborhood would play this, but I know only a very small handful would play along. They do this out by my aunt’s house and it’s so fun, she had my kids help her pick stuff out last year.
This is just too fun and thank you for sharing this idea with us.
I can’t imagine a Halloween without decorating the house and carving pumpkins. It’s a MUST to get into the spirit:)
This year, our Halloween was low-key, but fun! We purposefully bought candy we knew our family wouldn’t mind having left over. There was a lot of flooding and thunderstorms in our area, so there was no way of knowing how many trick-or-treaters we’d actually get. There ended up being only a few, so we do have a bit of a candy stash now! We ended with watching “Ghost Adventures” live on tv, and then winding down the night with two classic Halloween films: ‘Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein’, and the original, Vincent Price version of ‘House on Haunted Hill’. Spooky!
I love the idea of Halloween Phantom, that’s really clever! Thanks for posting!
How cute is that!? I love it. I totally get into the halloween “spirit”.
I think that the Halloween Phantom would help me in decorating the house this year. I enjoyed reading your article.
The Halloween phantom is so cute! I love Halloween decorations, they’re so much fun! 🙂
This is such a great idea, Can’t wait to do this. I bought like 20 buckets last year for 10 cents after Halloween. Now I know what to do with them.
The staff at the schoolI used to work at did this one year! It was a great morale booster!
