I’m Blonde Again!!

By: Tina Date: October 1, 2014 58 Comments

I’m Blonde Again!!

I have been coloring my hair blonde since it started turning brown around 7th grade. Recently, I have noticed a lot more people on television, movies, and news stations having brown hair. I thought to myself, “Is this the new trend? Is blonde hair out?” Hmm. So, I decided to give it a try. I went brown. Really, it is my natural color so why not give it a try. Hey, it will save me a little money right?!

For six months my hair was brown but, I just did not feel like me! I almost did not feel happy and bubbly like I normally do. Not to say that my hair defines my personality but, I do feel like other’s even acted differently around me. Almost like I was dressing down. It felt like I was wearing sweat pants out in public every day instead of nice jeans, dress pants, or a dress. I was not presenting my best me! MY BEST ME IS BLONDE! It is like wearing orange lipstick when you know red looks best on you!

People are nice. I have had several tell me, “Oh you look good with brown hair” and “You are lucky you can wear your hair brown or blonde.” Really what it all boils down to is how I feel. I feel my best blonde. 🙂

Now, when I say “I have been coloring my hair”, I really do not mean me. I have always gone to a salon to have my hair colored. Before moving five years ago I went to the same guy for 14 years! Oh, when I moved how I missed Randy!! Now, I have found an awesome hair salon in Spanish Fort, AL. After all I have to give credit where credit is due! So, if you are a local check out FirefliesSalon.com.

On my first visit she did not want to take me all the way blonde. So they put in just a few highlight.

That was done on a Friday and I went back on Monday to go more blonde. Some of you may have just freaked out! OMG you can’t do color and do color again so close together! Well, Fireflies Salon is using a new product called Olaplex that allows you to color more often, go lighter and double process the same day without any fear of breakage to your hair!!

My hair feels smooth and silky! Basically, there are three steps when using Olaplex. First No.1 Bond Multiplier is mixed in with your color. Then, No.2  Bond Protector is used after your color is rinsed. Then, you take No.3 Hair Perfector home with you to use once a week.

Your hair looks great! It looks healthy and shiny, plus I like the color. I’m Hispanic, so my hair is very dark brown (almost black) and I never dye it because I can’t think of another color that will look right on me, but I think it would be neat to be able to change its color if I wanted.

I had this used on my hair for the first time about 3 months ago. I have always wanted to have blonde in my hair. At least highlights, I do want to goto Strawberry Blonde, I am a red head and ALWAYS pull Red. So for the first time I have real blonde in my hair as highlights! and I love it. The only extra thing that they had to do was use toner, a nice Lavender to get rid of the red tones.

My Hair also got Darker as I aged, from Light Blonde to a darker Blonde, but now that I have Gray Hair it really mixes up the Blonde Color favorably, (I think)?

    Thanks for the post!

I like it. I’ve been using Sun In on my dark blond hair since the 70s, lol, then colored it ever since. I let it go for several months now and so surprised I have little gray. It’s time this weekend to brighten it up. I used Preference by L’Oreal, Medium Ash Blonde for years, but now experiment. Should be fun.

I think this is so relevant right now. With beyonce and her blonde wigs and many other actresses going blonde I’ve been trying on blonde wigs and they go great with my skin color. Being black and having had my hair blue black for 20 years I think I’m going in the other direction.

I have to say from what I can see in the mirror, you look much better as a blonde. I too was blonde when I was younger and my hair started getting darker when I was a teen. I still have a lot of blonde highlights as well as gray ones. My daughter thought I should color my hair darker because my roots are darker and I looked horrible. I think I looked older. I’ll keep my blonde as well. It’s just a darker blonde.

I like the highlights. It’s a very natural looking color. Most people overdo it when trying to go blonde. They make it too light and flat, no high or low lights. I guess that’s where the dumb blonde jokes come from.

Thanks for your article on going blonde again. I was born blonde and didn’t color my hair until I was 30. I noticed my hair was so much darker and had no shine, so I had it highlighted. Eventually, I ended up having color put all over my hair. When I had to go on disability, I couldn’t get out to the salon and didn’t feel like having ond of my hairdresser friends come over to color my hair or even try it myself. Eventually my hair had no color on it and it is a hideous brownish-blonde with a very ugly gray color mixed in (I just turned 60 in March). One of my hairdresser friends told me I shouldn’t go back to being blonde because I was too old. (She just had blonde highlights put in her hair and she will be 61 in October.) I haven’t done anything to my hair yet, but I know exactly what you mean about not feeling like yourself when you weren’t blonde. I don’t feel like myself, but I thought maybe it was because I have been sick, but you made me realize it was more about not looking like myself. So, thank you for that and I am going back to blonde as soon as I can. Thanks for the info on the new color processes and being able to double process. I never had to use bleach before, only color, but I am not sure about whether color will work without bleach this time. They even call the darker blonde or light brown colors bronde now. I don’t want that. I want my blonde hair back, not platnium but a pretty color and not this horrendous color my hair is now. I feel better, or at least more like myself, all ready. Thanks again for your words of wisdom.
