Things To Do in Destin & Fort Walton FL on Your Family Vacation

To continue telling all of you about my trip to Destin & Fort Walton Beach I want to talk about all the things we did at the places we visited in Destin and Fort Walton FL. I hope to travel back very soon and bring my family along. I know my husband and my boys would love all of the activities and great food I got to experience during my visit. This would make for a great family vacation.

Uncle Buck’s Fishbowl and Grill

The first night we arrived we started off with food and fun at Uncle Buck’s Fishbowl and Grill in Destin, FL.  We had dinner in the Trophy Room. This room is absolutely wonderful featuring a fireplace, luxurious dark wood paneling and tournament table for the ultimate in comfort and fun!

I snagged this image before everyone arrived….

However, this is not the only room you can enjoy a wonderful meal. They have several private rooms you can reserve or a more family casual dining area just when you want to stop in.

Oh, and the food is to not just plain Jane boring food! We had Wild Boar Slider, Mahi Mahi, and Fried Alligator….all delicious!

After you are done enjoying an incredible meal make sure to have a fun filled evening bowling in the ‘fish bowl’. Uncle Buck’s is the absolute best bowling environment. The manager mentioned to us that everything had been hand painted. You can tell the great attention they put into the details to give you the best experience they could offer.

Lucy Buffett’s LuLu’s

LuLu's Destin, FL

The next day for lunch we went to Lucy Buffett’s LuLu’s for lunch. As many of you may be familiar with the name, this is Jimmy Buffett’s sister’s place.

They offer a great feature on their menu to track exactly where your fish was caught. This let’s you know your food is fresh and local. Another special service LuLu’s offers is a wonderful allergy menu! If you have any type of allergy just let them know and they will bring out a menu just for you. In the kitchen they will make sure not to cross contaminant your food also!

The views are very relaxing and kids have a playground to play!

Gulfarium Marine Adventure Park

Right after lunch we headed over to the Gulfarium Marine Adventure Park.

The Gulfarium is a must visit place with kids. They can learn so much and have a great time! The views are beautiful and the sea-life is amazing. We watched the Sea Lion show, it was super cute! Plus, you are allowed to touch some of the sea creatures, while other’s I’m sure you don’t want to touch. Hehe….the sharks!

Wild Willy’s Adventure Zone & Yogo Mogos Frozen Yogurt

The last place we spent time at was Wild Willy’s Adventure Zone and next door to that the Yogo Mogos Frozen Yogurt.

At Wild Willy’s we enjoyed pizza, arcade games, a 4D Movie, and adventure golf. They also offer Raptor’s Revenge, a Tree Top Challenge, Ptero Jump, Spin-o-Saurus Coaster, an Inflatable Zone, and Boat Battles. You could spend all day here!

The “Danger Watch Your Head” sign really was not needed for me! 🙂

Then, we walked right next door to enjoy a frozen yogurt. Mine did not look real pretty but, trust me, it tasted yummy!! It was the perfect treat after playing at Wild Willy’s.

I’ve never taken my kids to Florida before – I think they would love it. That frozen yogurt looks yummy with all the toppings! Thanks for the suggestions 🙂

We were down in that area many years ago. We could not get a room in Destin for it was a last minute thing on spring break. We were able to get a room in Navarre Island (since surricane, hotel is no longer there). I very much enjoyed it. It was very relaxing and not very busy, but it was also just down the road from Destin if we wanted to go out. We have been back since and stayed in a wonderful condo.

Look like fun places to visit. I live over 2,000 miles from here and don’t have any plans to visit.

That looks like so much fun! I live farther south and Destin is a popular place for people from my area of Florida to visit because we don’t have nice beaches (Manatee yes, sandy beaches no) It is also not crazy during Spring break like other spots in Florida so you don’t need to worry what your kids will see. LuLu’s having the fish tracking is a great idea since restaurants tend to lie and know of shrimp packing plants re labeling shrimp from China to say Florida.
