How To Get Sponsored Post For Your Blog

How To Get Sponsored Post For Your Blog
How to Get Sponsored Post on Your Blog

There are a lot of new bloggers who wonder, “How do I get sponsored post for my blog?” I remember when I first started blogging I was not even aware bloggers were being paid for some of the content they were putting on their sites. Now, of course all bloggers need to disclose using FTC Guidelines.

Before you read my tips I want to fully disclose to you all that I am by no means the expert in this field. Also, some of the media companies I link to in this post are affiliate links. I am sure there are many other bloggers who know more about is subject than I do! FYIbyTina is a new site and I have not yet accepted a sponsored blog post on this site however, my other site BabyCostcutters.com receives on average one sponsored blog post a week, sometimes more.

Here are my tips. Please, if you have additional tips you would like to add leave a comment and I will add it to the post.

Before You Pitch

Have a well organized easy to navigate blog. If your blog is not organized a client will not want to see their company/product talked about on your site. Make sure you have your categories set up to show clients what you talk about on your site. If they see you have discussed an educational app they will want you to talk about their educational app also!

It does take time and you may need to first start off by writing a few non-sponsored post to get your categories going. You know what you want on your blog so make sure to stay focused on your topics.

Pitch, Pitch, and Pitch Again!

When you find a company online you think would gain customers if you were to write a post about them and promote it to your social media following PITCH THEM! Tell then you have readers that would love to know about their product/service! I have heard several bloggers suggest they get tired of pitching but, for about every ten emails I send I might get one yes. So, don’t give up just because you do not get a yes right off the bat.

Other bloggers feel they are not good enough for a sponsored post. KNOW YOUR WORTH! If you have developed a good readership you are worth  it! If you do not have a following yet I would suggest joining group giveaways with other bloggers to get your social media following started. Finding bloggers in Facebook groups is a great way to meet other bloggers. Here is my group if you would like to join.

Join Sponsored Post Media Companies

There are several different media companies that offer sponsored post to bloggers. Here are a few of my favorite:

Mommerce

Linkvehicle

IZEA

Social Swayy

Rebok ~ This is in the Share A Sale Network but, they offer small paid post and can include your affiliate links to make extra $.

What Should You Be Paid?

Parenting blog Babble has a great equation for how you should determine your rate for sponsored blog posts.

# of page views + # of twitter followers ÷ page rank # x $ .01 ÷ 2 = your approximate sponsored post rate.

Now is this set in stone, NO. You can feel free to determine your time value also! Make sure to stick to your worth. There are several companies that will try to say you are not worth that value or they do not have an advertising budget. One of the worst mistakes in my opinion is when a blogger sells them-self short. While I understand sometimes we do let our readers know about great products or services because we like them….do not overload yourself with free advertisement at a company’s request.

Other companies will try to word it as a guest post. “We would like to give you a well written, high quality post for your readers to enjoy and bring in traffic to your site!” Ummmm, NO! You can bring readers into your site just fine on your own.

Think of it this way; Just because a company has created a commercial, you don’t see the cable companies airing it for free!

Thanks for these tips! I’ve wanted to start a blog but am hesitant because I just don’t like the sales aspect of getting sponsors! This makes me feel much better about the possibility!
