We all need to get away every once in a while. The beach is a perfect getaway place! Recently, I went on a super fun girlfriend’s getaway to Gulf Shores and Orange Beach on the Alabama Gulf Coast. Where to Stay
We stayed at the Turquoise Place by Spectrum Resorts in Orange Beach. I can not begin to tell you the beauty of our accommodations. However, I can show you! Check out my Facebook Live video I posted when I arrived at our unit. (Please note: The Twitter party I talk about in the video has already happened.) It was a gorgeous three-bedroom, more than 2,000 square feet luxury condominium with stunning Gulf of Mexico views. If you are heading down to Orange Beach, I highly suggested booking your stay with them!

Where to Eat
By the end of our trip, I was somewhat sick of food. I know right, how could that have happened?! I mean it, in the best way! We ate so much delicious food; I don’t think my body wanted for anything. If you are close to any of these restaurants during your getaway, I highly recommend them all! I could not say a single bad thing about any of these restaurants.
These are the restaurants we enjoyed during our stay. You can throw a rock and find an excellent restaurant to eat in Orange Beach and Gulf Shores.
Breakfast Foods We Ate
Our first breakfast was at The Southern Grind. This is a super cute quaint place to shop and dine located at the Wharf in Orange Beach. They promote themselves as a Coffee Shop. However, truly it is so much more than that! The owner offers handmade gifts and personally designed decor!
Around noon, on Sunday, we enjoyed a relaxing brunch at Bill’s By the Beach. Their brunch goes until 4 pm!! I love that! We had gone kayaking that morning early, so I was thrilled to be still able to have breakfast food. While you enjoy your meal, you have a beautiful view of the beach. Recently, I learned Bill’s By the Beach offers fresh locally-sourced, seasonal ingredients from the farm to your table. This is important to me, as many of you know; I like to eat local fresh foods. Sit inside in the air conditioning or outside on the deck all while enjoying the beach casual atmosphere.
Lunch Places We Enjoyed
When we arrived in town, the first place we ate was Cobalt Restaurant. You can enjoy a beautiful view of the bay during your meal while sitting inside or outside. We were here during lunch however, I highly recommend eating dinner here to watch the colorful sunset on the bay. Of course, the food is great any time of day!
The next day we went to the Beach House Kitchen & Cocktails for lunch. I ordered the House Cobb Salad. I promise you, I ate the salad. However, it did not look like it when I was done. It was one of those meals that just seemed to grow and grow, even though I kept eating and eating. Loved it! It seemed to have a little bit of everything I like in it! Even topped with a fried egg. Yum!
Dinner Places We Dined
Our first dinner was at Luna’s Eat and Drink. This is a relatively new restaurant in Orange Beach featuring craft beers not found anywhere else on the island. The atmosphere is very laid back and family friendly, while at the same time offering creative culinary foods using simple ingredients. For those of you who love tasty food but don’t want to miss the football game, this is a perfect place for you to dine! Great food, unique beer, and large screen televisions!
Next up on our schedule for dinner was Nolan’s Restaurant. If you are looking for an entertaining night with a local house band coupled with fine dining, this is the place to eat. Nolan’s is family owned and operated. You can tell this because, from they moment you walk in the door, they treat you like family. While dining, I noticed the owners walking around chatting with the guest. This is where the locals like to eat and then enjoy their evenings in the lounge.
Our last dinner was at the Cayman Grill in Orange Beach. Besides the fantastic food, they have an enormous 8,000-gallon stingray pool right in the center of the restaurant! It was relaxing to dine while watching the fish swim around the pool. They also utilize fresh, local ingredients in their restaurant. Just recently, I have started eating oysters. We ordered the Chargrilled Gulf Oysters as an appetizer. Oh, yummy yummy yummy!
Keep and eye out. – More detailed articles with pictures about each of these restaurants. — these article coming soon!
Activities to Plan
Now, I know some of you may be thinking, “What? Activities?! I don’t want to do anything on a girls weekend?” Oh, come on! Don’t just stay on the beach the entire trip! Get out and have a little adventure! We went kayaking using the Wild Native: Bon Secour Wildlife Refuge Eco Kayak Tour as our guide. This was so much fun!! We enjoyed learning all about the wildlife from our kayaking guide. She was very knowledgeable about the area and wildlife. Hehehe… I will update this with a link also to our full experience. Preview for you – An alligator close by and a spider in our kayak! – Hillarious!
How to Relax
Awe, now it’s time to relax! Of course going to the beach, it’s not that hard to search to find a way to relax. You can simply go to the beach! Bring your own chair, rent one from the resort, or just take a beach towel. Trust me, you will enjoy the water where you find it! Hop in the pool or float around the lazy river.
How about a massage? Crazy question right!? I mean, what is a girls weekend without a massage! We had a Swedish Massage at the Spa at The Beach Club by Spectrum Resorts in Gulf Shores. It was so relaxing, I want to go back there right now. While there we also enjoyed mimosas in their relaxation room in the jacuzzi. – Don’t be jealous.
Last but, certainly not least, we had a blast on a relaxing cruise aboard the Sunset Dolphin Cruise: Cetacean Cruises. We had the best time on this cruise! It was so funny, as we are pulling out from the dock, Gilligan’s Island theme song started playing! It was so much fun! The owners are energetic, friendly, and helpful! – I’ll have a full article of this soon also.

Perfect for a sisters weekend – I don’t want to plan any activities except for a spa visit or two. I just want to be on the beach!

My sister, SILs and I took a Gulf coast long weekend a few years back. I really didn’t do much research other than the fact that I wanted to be on the beach. Wish I had read your post first!
