I’m Blonde Again!!
I have been coloring my hair blonde since it started turning brown around 7th grade. Recently, I have noticed a lot more people on television, movies, and news stations having brown hair. I thought to myself, “Is this the new trend? Is blonde hair out?” Hmm. So, I decided to give it a try. I went brown. Really, it is my natural color so why not give it a try. Hey, it will save me a little money right?!
For six months my hair was brown but, I just did not feel like me! I almost did not feel happy and bubbly like I normally do. Not to say that my hair defines my personality but, I do feel like other’s even acted differently around me. Almost like I was dressing down. It felt like I was wearing sweat pants out in public every day instead of nice jeans, dress pants, or a dress. I was not presenting my best me! MY BEST ME IS BLONDE! It is like wearing orange lipstick when you know red looks best on you!
People are nice. I have had several tell me, “Oh you look good with brown hair” and “You are lucky you can wear your hair brown or blonde.” Really what it all boils down to is how I feel. I feel my best blonde. 🙂
Now, when I say “I have been coloring my hair”, I really do not mean me. I have always gone to a salon to have my hair colored. Before moving five years ago I went to the same guy for 14 years! Oh, when I moved how I missed Randy!! Now, I have found an awesome hair salon in Spanish Fort, AL. After all I have to give credit where credit is due! So, if you are a local check out FirefliesSalon.com.
On my first visit she did not want to take me all the way blonde. So they put in just a few highlight.
That was done on a Friday and I went back on Monday to go more blonde. Some of you may have just freaked out! OMG you can’t do color and do color again so close together! Well, Fireflies Salon is using a new product called Olaplex that allows you to color more often, go lighter and double process the same day without any fear of breakage to your hair!!
My hair feels smooth and silky! Basically, there are three steps when using Olaplex. First No.1 Bond Multiplier is mixed in with your color. Then, No.2 Bond Protector is used after your color is rinsed. Then, you take No.3 Hair Perfector home with you to use once a week.

It looks really very nice. I like the way they did the highlights.
Stephanie says
You have such beautiful hair!! I love the blonde.
Alisha H. says
Your hair looks great! It looks healthy and shiny, plus I like the color. I’m Hispanic, so my hair is very dark brown (almost black) and I never dye it because I can’t think of another color that will look right on me, but I think it would be neat to be able to change its color if I wanted.
Shasta says
Looks very nice! Your salon did a great job, and I’m glad they are using a product that won’t ruin your hair.
Joanna Sormunen says
The color looks really great on you! I love the hightlights!
Nicole @Nici'sChatterBox says
This looks really great, I’m trying to get back to brown after being blonde all summer.
Cierra says
I like your highlights 🙂 love reading hair reviews and process. Never heard of this product your stylist used but I’m a researcher by nature so I gotta look it up. And I get exactly how you feel when it comes to knowing what you know you feel like you in :)) you go Ma’m
Jessica Beal Harlow says
You really do look great both brown or blonde….but if I was asked, I’d tell you stay blonde! It makes you look younger and more carefree!
Deanna Ritz says
I have a lot of hair envy at the moment. I haven’t had my hair done in months and am getting it highlighted this weekend. I can not wait!! Your hair looks fantastic and I’m hoping mine looks half as good. 🙂
Karen @ From the Garden Table says
Definitely be the color you feel best with! It’s been a loooong time since I have colored, I have been thinking about doing it lately and you might have just pushed me over the edge! 😉

Great post Tina. And welcome back to the world of blonde. I think brown is in right now but im sure blonde will be coming back with vengeance!!!

The brown hair looks really nice. The highlights create a nice balance to your appearance.

I’ve never been blonde but I will give it a go one day.

Such a beautiful hair, you look more gorgeous with the result.
Dorothy Boucher says
I love it and love the hair cut, it looks good on you
Veronica Lee says
That color looks perfect on you! I am loving the highlights.
Lisa Diaz says
i love the blonde <3 So pretty!
Ruth Griffeth says
I had this used on my hair for the first time about 3 months ago. I have always wanted to have blonde in my hair. At least highlights, I do want to goto Strawberry Blonde, I am a red head and ALWAYS pull Red. So for the first time I have real blonde in my hair as highlights! and I love it. The only extra thing that they had to do was use toner, a nice Lavender to get rid of the red tones.

My Hair also got Darker as I aged, from Light Blonde to a darker Blonde, but now that I have Gray Hair it really mixes up the Blonde Color favorably, (I think)?
Thanks for the post!

I like it. I’ve been using Sun In on my dark blond hair since the 70s, lol, then colored it ever since. I let it go for several months now and so surprised I have little gray. It’s time this weekend to brighten it up. I used Preference by L’Oreal, Medium Ash Blonde for years, but now experiment. Should be fun.
dalene bohannon says
i love the blonde, im a blonde and would never go brown ,
Nena Sinclair says
I like both colors on you, but I like the blonde the most, you really suit it!
angelam says
I went blonde a few years ago after being brunette forever. Not long ago I decided to go back brunette. Now I’m not so sure. May make the change back to blonde in the spring! You look great! The blonde really highlights your pretty face! =)
Diana Corlett says
I’ve never gone blonde myself, but I can see how you would get used to the look and not feel like yourself without it! It looks great on you!
Jo-Ann Brightman says
If you feel better being blonde then that is the hair color you should have. You even look happier in the photo when you have blonde hair.
Randi C. says
Love the highlights; went through the same blond, brown scenario; I love what you’ve done and I think your highlights are super shiny and classy looking.
Lynn C says
Next time go purple! I’ve been doing red since my 30s and always feel better with fresh color. Nowadays I need it to cover the grays, but I’ve always just felt like I was meant to be a redhead.
Cynthia says
I like blonde highlights with brown low lights that match my hair. Can go longer between coloring
Tina F says
I like it. The second and third pictures is what my hair was like til I added some red in it to spiff it up some I cannot have just one color in my hair or have my hair just my natural color brown as it makes me look too hard I think My daughter loves my hair natural as in the brown NOT me
Betsy Barnes says
I did this exact same thing. I had colored my hair blonde for many years, decided to go brown, closer to my real color. I’m not happy with it either, would love to have your highlights, so pretty! 🙂
Jessica Kurfurst Jackson says
To each there own for their hair color. I’ve dabbled in a few hair colors myself. Never went fully blonde. But, it’s something I would like to try once!
Julie Simpson says
I think this is so relevant right now. With beyonce and her blonde wigs and many other actresses going blonde I’ve been trying on blonde wigs and they go great with my skin color. Being black and having had my hair blue black for 20 years I think I’m going in the other direction.
heidi eaton says
I have to say from what I can see in the mirror, you look much better as a blonde. I too was blonde when I was younger and my hair started getting darker when I was a teen. I still have a lot of blonde highlights as well as gray ones. My daughter thought I should color my hair darker because my roots are darker and I looked horrible. I think I looked older. I’ll keep my blonde as well. It’s just a darker blonde.
Melinda Dartmann says
I absolutely love it! I have been dying my hair blonde since I was 16! I have seriously been considering going darker also…you really made me think on this one!
Sherry Jennings says
Your hair looks great! I love the color and how you got it fixed. I have always wanted my hair cut your way.
Minta Boggs says
I love it!! you are right I think blonde suits you better, I have had dark hair all my life except when I was a teenager and wanted blonde like my friends and used sun in and ended up with orange red hair for about two weeks, eek!! now I’m scared to death to color my hair it would probably turn green. lol but also I would be in style because color in hair right now is the new in!!
Michelle Gordon says
That looks really nice! I have always done my own hair coloring at home.
Amy M says
My hair got really dark recently — I’m pretty sure the stylist just mixed the color wrong — and I’ve kind of grown to like it, but new color is always exciting.
Heather NC says
Looks good what is your natural hair color and what are you to color your hair
Denise Smith says
you have nice hair love the color
Nena Sinclair says
Your hair turned out beautifully! Love the color!!
Debbie Welchert says
I love your hair. It’s so pretty and I really like the color too.
Angela Stevens says
I have tried a million colours in my hair since puberty came and made my blonde locks dark but I always go back to blonde. It is who I am!
Sarah L says
As long as you feel better as a blonde – I say GO FOR IT!. Looks good on you.
Michelle Bartley says
I feel better as a blonde too!!
lisa says
I like the highlights. It’s a very natural looking color. Most people overdo it when trying to go blonde. They make it too light and flat, no high or low lights. I guess that’s where the dumb blonde jokes come from.
Kristin K says
Your hair looks gorgeous! I am thinking about going blonde again…however, I will be doing it myself!
Diana Corlett says
Absolutely understand the sense of “not being you”, although I would feel that way if I ever went blond!
Sue M. says
Your hair looks great! I’ve never tried dying my hair, maybe because I have very dark brown hair and I was worried it wouldn’t “take” and I’d end up with green hair or something! 😛 I don’t mind being a brunette though.
lisa says
The color looks totally natural and your hair is shiny. I really like it.
Sara Weekley says
Your hair looks so good, my hair is a flat dark brown and I am going to get some highlights put in soon , hopefully it turns out like yours. =)
Kristin Henderson says
I love it! Looks fantastic! Blondes really do have more fun! 😉
M.Clark says
Your hair looks great, you should definitely go with the color that makes you feel your best. Olaplex sounds like an interesting product, definitely worth looking into. Thank you for sharing this post.
Elevia Monroe says
You look great both ways, but do whatever makes you feel most like you, definitely. 🙂
Fee Roberts says
I don’t dye my hair, but I say if it makes someone feel their best, do what makes you feel good 🙂
Deborah Caudill says
Thanks for your article on going blonde again. I was born blonde and didn’t color my hair until I was 30. I noticed my hair was so much darker and had no shine, so I had it highlighted. Eventually, I ended up having color put all over my hair. When I had to go on disability, I couldn’t get out to the salon and didn’t feel like having ond of my hairdresser friends come over to color my hair or even try it myself. Eventually my hair had no color on it and it is a hideous brownish-blonde with a very ugly gray color mixed in (I just turned 60 in March). One of my hairdresser friends told me I shouldn’t go back to being blonde because I was too old. (She just had blonde highlights put in her hair and she will be 61 in October.) I haven’t done anything to my hair yet, but I know exactly what you mean about not feeling like yourself when you weren’t blonde. I don’t feel like myself, but I thought maybe it was because I have been sick, but you made me realize it was more about not looking like myself. So, thank you for that and I am going back to blonde as soon as I can. Thanks for the info on the new color processes and being able to double process. I never had to use bleach before, only color, but I am not sure about whether color will work without bleach this time. They even call the darker blonde or light brown colors bronde now. I don’t want that. I want my blonde hair back, not platnium but a pretty color and not this horrendous color my hair is now. I feel better, or at least more like myself, all ready. Thanks again for your words of wisdom.
Jerry Marquardt says
I like that it looks nice and easy to go blonde again. Thanks for this great and nice information.
Amy Green says
I think it’s fun, flirty, and suits your personality. Look at all of the famous women who have made “going blond” work for them, like Madonna and Marilyn Monroe!
