Our Holiday Family Portraits

This holiday season I wanted to make sure to have professional pictures of my family taken. I have a good camera, as most of us have decent cell phone cameras now. However, getting the correct poses and background is not exactly my specialty. When gazing back through old photo albums, do you cringe every time you get to the classic family Christmas photo? You are not alone! Terrible and awkward pictures can be a result of tons of factors, including inexperienced photographers, camera malfunctions, and kids who refuse to sit still for more than a moment. That’s why I was thrilled to work with Portrait Innovations to have a professional photography session for our family holiday pictures.

Plus, this year I will actually send out a holiday photo greeting card! We chose one of our poses for our Christmas photo greeting cards! They even supply the envelopes!

Our experience at Portrait Innovations was wonderful from the moment we walked in the door. I have found my kids can take direction from a professional a lot faster than from me! Also, they make the environment very kid friendly. There is an open area to sit with the kids to play while you wait. Not that we had to wait, our session started right after we arrived.

Photographers at each studio have been trained in the newest posing and shooting techniques and work with newborns, children, families, graduates, religious milestones, and large groups. My kids had no problems with taking directions nor did they get bored. Our session was fast and professional. She took three pictures for every pose and moved on quickly. She was funny, so the kids loved her! I did too. 🙂

There were two photograph rooms set up. One was the Christmas room and the other had different backgrounds our photographer pulled down. We arrived in our Christmas colored clothes and changed before moving to the second room. They studio has a large family changing room. We decided to wear jeans for all the backdrops and only changed our tops.

After the photography session, we sat down at a large screen computer to view and select the images. The selection process is also set up to move fast. You are shown the three images from each pose and you pick the one you like. From there, you select down till you get to the images you love.

Of course, they take all these pictures and edit each in front of you. Like the picture of my three boys, I didn’t like their shoes showing. She just did a few clicks to enlarge the image into the frame to crop out their shoes.

Before leaving our session, all of our pictures were printed and ready for us to take with us! You can also order personalized gifts and keepsakes.
