Period Pads Are Not for LBL #RecycleYourPeriodPad

By: Tina Date: June 5, 2015 67 Comments

Poise Thin-Shape Pads

Did you know period pad are not designed for LBL, Light Bladder Leakage. Since period pads are what most women have around the house they find it easier just to use them. However, that is not their intended use. After having three babies I suffer from LBL now. Last week I was given the opportunity to support the #RecycleYourPeriodPad campaign to let all of you know there are pads designed for LBL.

FIRST WHAT IS LBL?
• One in three women experience Light Bladder Leakage (LBL) – little leaks that can be triggered by everyday occurrences like coughing, sneezing, laughing and exercise.
• Weak pelvic floor muscles, pregnancy, childbirth and weight gain are just a few LBL contributors.

WHAT CAUSES LBL?
Just as no two women are alike, there’s no single reason that LBL happens. Some of the most common things that lead to uninvited leaks include:
• Physical changes from childbirth, pregnancy, hysterectomy or menopause
• Being overweight
• Complications from surgery, stroke, or chronic diseases like diabetes, multiple sclerosis (MS) or Parkinson’s disease
• Bladder or urinary tract infections
• Bladder irritants (certain foods and beverages)

Summer is right around the corner, and that means skirts, dresses, swimsuits, and shorts! Poise Thin-Shape pads are the perfect choice for managing your LBL during the hot summer months. Poise Thin-Shape pads let you feel confident! Even if you are wearing your yoga pants to work-out class. Really, no-one can see them! I have wore then to my boot camp in yoga pants and you can not see them.

If you so feel a bit uncomfortable in the yoga pants you can always wear a pair of workout shorts.  I like these from Walmart.

Walmart exercise shorts

I know this is not the most fun topic to talk about and it’s embarrassing but, you should know 1 in 3 of us experiences Light Bladder Leakage. There is no reason to hide or not do the things we enjoy in life in fear of LBL. Women deserve the best options for managing LBL. Whether you leak a little when you laugh, or sometimes have a sudden urge to go, Poise can give  you one less thing to worry about any time of day or night.

Poise wants you to Recycle that period pad and take a look at NEW PoiseThin-Shape Pads: comfortable protection that is both thin and flexible and is made specifically for LBL. They’re designed specifically for Light Bladder Leakage (LBL), which make them an easy choice for the 1 in 3 women who experiences LBL.

Now that I want to get back to my regular routine exercise is in my future. Really, the times I have the most problems with LBL is while exercising. Designed to move with my body the new Poise Thin-Shape pads offer me great protection to help you take care of leaks with confidence.

What To Do with Your Period Pads

So, what can you do with those period pads you have around the house? Here are a few suggestions.

Make-Up Bag Liners

 #RecycleYourPeriodPad

No-one likes how the bottom of your make-up bag gets all dirty. There is a simple fix. Take a period pad and simply stick it to the bottom of your bag. If you bag is larger than mine or you use a bin, simply use more pads.

Ice Pack

#RecycleYourPeriodPad
Make a few extra ice packs for your home. Combine 1 part rubbing alcohol with 2 parts water and soak the pad. Place inside a zip top bag and freeze for an hour.

Donate to a Woman’s Shelter

This is a great way to give back to your community. Find your local woman’s shelter and drop them off. I am sure they would love the donation.

I rarely suffer from LBL so I don’t use anything. I ordered my free samples a while ago for my mom. They are pretty nice. In a pinch another good use for period pads is a cleaning/dusting rag.

I ‘ve tried these. They cost a bit more than regular panty liners but they do work well. And, in the Sunday paper there is usually a three dollar off coupon, so they’re basically free.

I agree lbl isnt fun to talk bout but it should be I mean its not as if it happens on purpose and sometimes we need to talk about things to take the so called shame away or discuss taboo subjects and if shring with others your experience or quality products then I think that is a positive good thing. After my youngest I had lbl even after doing my kegels diligently. Over time it has gotten to the point where I rarely have lbl which is great and finding quality products has been amust Thanks for sharing with us

I just read yesterday, that you can put a liner pad inside a high heeled shoe to make it more comfortable. I can’t test it because I can’t wear heels but it sounds logical.

I don’t have this problem. This article is a bit off beat, If I had pads that I didn’t need for anything, what would I use them for? Maybe underneath a house plant to catch any extra water that may seep out of the bottom.

They have really come up with some great products and also I found a company that deals with anal leakage. I’m a nurse so I talk about anything, but that’s also a problem for some. Thanks for reviewing and bringing up the topic.
