Coffee Before Nap = The PERFECT Energizing Nap
Having coffee before a nap may be just the right combination to give you the boost you need during your day. I am trilled to learn about this new combination!! Having been a long time coffee drinker I have always known of the benefits of having a cup of coffee mid-afternoon to keep me going for the rest of the day. However, I have never been a fan of taking a nap because I thought if I had coffee I could not nap because of the caffeine. Now I know the recipe to having coffee and a nap.
The trick is to drink your coffee and go directly to taking a nap. Caffeine takes 20 minutes to reach the brain taking effect in your system and the recommended nap time is 20 minutes. Combined Together = The PERFECT Energizing Nap. By taking a short nap immediately after consumption, the stimulant effect kicks in just as you are waking up. Not only will you feel revived from your power nap, you’ll also have the added benefit of the caffeine boost.
How to Take a Coffee / Caffeine Nap
1) Get your nap environment ready.
Find a quiet place away from any distractions where you will be the most comfortable. Ideally with dim lighting. A small room with a comfy sofa or armchair will do. If you have foam ear plugs and an eye mask you may find it easier to nap.
2) Drink Your Caffeinated Coffee
Soda with caffeine will not work, they do not contain enough caffeine. Try not to put to much sugar in your coffee, you don’t want a sugar rush that may inhibit your nap.
3) Set your alarm to go off in 20 minutes
If you think it may take you five minutes to drift asleep you could set your alarm for 25 minutes but, it is important not to sleep for too long. To long of a nap can cause sleep inertia, especially when they last more than 10-20 minutes. Sleep inertia is defined as the feeling of grogginess and disorientation that can come with awakening from a deep sleep. While this state usually only lasts for a few minutes to a half-hour, it can be detrimental to those who must perform immediately after waking.
4) Take your nap right away.
Do not waste time, take your nap right away. Get cozy and comfortable and enjoy your nap!

This sounds like a very interesting combination. I never get naps, but maybe now that my older two are back in school I *might* be able to try this.
