Turkey in Disguise Thanksgiving Craft
Oh, the farmer’s turkey needs your help!! He does not want to be eaten for Thanksgiving dinner!! This is a fun activity to do with your kids.
The Thanksgiving turkey needs a disguise so the farmer cannot find him. Turkeys that have made it through in the past have been dressed like ballerinas, football players, farmers, fun characters, hula dancers, Elvis, etc. Think of something unique or special to your family.
What you will need:
- Turkey cut out. ~ You can print our here: Turkey in Disguise Templet Printable
- Craft items such as crayons, feathers, cotton balls, tissue paper, ribbons, fabric scraps, glitter, glue, pipe cleaners, really anything you have around the house. No need to buy any expensive items.
Directions:
- You can try to first decide how you are going to disguise your turkey and gather your craft items or just gather all your craft items and let your imagination go wild.
- Print and cut out the turkey. You can choose to draw on feathers if you like or cut out your turkey wide to leave room for decorations.
- As an extra learning experience you can have your child write or say a persuasive argument for why the turkey should not be eaten.

This is so funny! I don’t live in the US and we don’t celebrate Thanksgiving, but traditionally we eat turkey on Christmas day so this would be a fun activity for our kids too.
Thos is a fun kids craft, I have seen school programs making these as well.

this was always a fun thing to do with my schoolage kids. they enjoyed turning there turkeys into disney characters.

What a fun idea. I think we will do this before we eat on Thanksgiving when the kids are saying “When are we going to eat, I’m hungry” sure will be a great distraction.

My children would have so much fun making these, they are just adorable.
My grandson just turned 6 and he would absolutely love to do this. He is not one to want to color, but give him scissors and glue and watch out. Yes, he would love this. Going to bookmark this and maybe use it real soon. Thank you for sharing this with us. 🙂

Pinned about this on Pinterest. Engaging activity, I’m sure kids and parents would really love doing this together. Just hope no melt downs on Thanksgiving though when the turkey for the meal comes out. Might have to definitely let the little ones know they aren’t the same turkey.

What a cool creative ide and children love to express themselves and make their own special creations and then us mams and grandmoms can have this special art work for years to come, thank you for these ideas and one for you, you can use spices from your spice cabinet to decorate the turkey and it will also smell good and coffee grounds is a great idea also

This is a great idea and so much fun. I love getting your child to come up with a reason why the turkey should not be eaten. Since my nephews and grandkids will be here at Thanksgiving and are just about the age for this kind of project, I am going to get them to give this a go. It be a way to keep them entertained right before dinner.

This would be the perfect activity to have when you’re gearing up for Thanksgiving television specials, like the Macy’s parade or Charlie Brown’s Thanksgiving. It reminds me a great deal of the handprint turkey that everyone in my family did in kindergarten and primary school grades, growing up. You simply trace around your hand, and color in your thumb and finger areas for the turkey’s face and tail feathers.
How CLEVER!!! This would help keep the grandkids busy when they are off of school for a few days around Thanksgiving!! Plus they can put their creations on the dinner tableor counters for decorations! I tried to pin this, but I got a message saying that there is nothing to pin 🙁

I am going to keep this is mind when I host Thanksgiving next year. We always have lots of kids at the house and I think this would be a good way for them to occupy themselves and have fun.
