Get Your House Back to School Ready
Organizing your home before school starts is a must! Forget Spring Cleaning focus on Back to School Cleaning! Why would you not clean BEFORE the school year starts instead of towards the end of school?! In the spring you may not yet be ready to clean out the mess of the school year. Most kids are still in school during the spring, still needing their uniforms or school clothes along with supplies.
The beginning of the school year can be a stressful time of year for any family! Having a clean home with closets being well organized with clothes that fit along with a desk ready to work can make your child’s and your day much easier!
Your Kids Room
How many of you have even unpacked your child’s backpacks from last school year?! It is time to throw out the trash. Of course if you would like to keep a few things for scrapbooks make sure to file them away. Have a desk in your child’s room with plenty of open work space and several containers with fresh school supplies.
Go though ALL of their clothes having them try everything on to see what still fits! Of course stock them up with new school clothes whether uniform or regular clothing.
Don’t forget to set an alarm clock in your kids room. This will teach them at an early age to get up on their own. While also giving you a backup in-case your alarm does not go off.
Your Kitchen
Breakfast is the most important meal of the day! We all can not provide a fresh cooked meal in the morning chaos but, you can plan ahead. Make some morning breakfast burritos you can freeze and warm up or you can purchase easy store bought items. Personally, I would not suggest any sugary carb loaded cereals. You want their breakfast to hold them to lunch.
Purchase your snacks in bulk to save money, as I do, go ahead and break them down into smaller bags ready to go for the week. This will save you time in the mornings.
If you are packing school lunches have an easy accessibly place in your kitchen laid out with everything you need for the first week. If your child eats lunch at school go ahead and have the money ready or in your child’s lunch account at school.
Your Home Office
We all do not have a home office this can easily be a drawer somewhere in your home. Students come home the first week of school with a lot of paperwork for you. Make sure you have a file or drawer you can place all these items. Sure, most of the time we never need them but, sometimes they can be very useful.
Create a family calendar! This is one of the most useful tools we have in our home!! With five of us our schedules can easily overlap. Make sure to have one calendar where everyone puts their important activities/appointments. Tip: Use a different color pen for each family member.

We always buy school supplies in bulk when school starts. My children are very artsy fartsy and on their free time they are usually doodling and coloring or making crafts.

Cleaning is a chore anyway you look at it. Yes, if you have kids, you really need to go through and see what new clothes they’ll need.

These are all great ideas. My mom would always tell me to get my clothes and lunch ready the night before to save time in the morning and I STILL do that, it really helps!

Great ideas. My favorite is making breakfast burritos ahead and this way the kids will have a nice breakfast in the morning.
